Enterprise Geeks Podcast – Holiday Recap, CES 2012, and HANA Application Development

Maybe some day we will do a live podcast from CES

Season 4 Episode 8

Back from a nice, long holiday break; we jump right into the tick of things with a recap of some of the cool stuff we got over the holidays as well as look ahead to 2012 thanks to the Consumer Electronics Show.  I also share my thoughts and experiences from my first two weeks working with SAP HANA.

  • A little holiday recap
    • LEGOs have come a far way
    • Star Wars The Old Republic – Join Ed and myself on the Shii-Cho server and perhaps we could even start an Enterprise Geeks Guild.
  • The International Consumer Electronics Show
    • 3D TVs in decline?
    • The year of the ultraportable?
    • Tablet overload?
    • Hardware is dead, long live Software
  • HANA Application Development
    • XS Engine

Running Time: 52:53

If you have questions, suggestions, or topic ideas for future episodes, give us a shout here.

Developing w/ HANA tools sounds interesting, can’t wait to get my fingers on it. Well I guess writing SQL-code (in which I actually feel comfortable) will not be last thing in HANA. Like in ABAP world (as you [Thomas] mentioned it) with persistent object, something like that will probably move into HANA environment, too?! To get on the next abstraction layer?

Yes. It is a little early to share all the details, but of course there will be such tools but still with the capability to dip down into powerful SQL and SQLScript when the developer needs to.

This post is probably a bit old, but I have to post this link – when can you ever mix “computers” and lego… but here: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/8479
    There’s a Lego-MacBook there, too: http://lego.cuusoo.com/ideas/view/10725
    Anyway, good show.
