Guys – sorry about the comment drought – been buried in deliverables and like you said yourself, time comes when you need to push away from the computer. I think we all suffer from some degree of excessive white collar/information consuming activities. Like Thomas I’m a fan of walking because unless the weather is brutal I can just grab a bottle of water and head out. I know I’ve composed some ideas during those walks, some of those ideas were horrible but some were not bad.

Getting away is one thing – finding worthwhile uses of our creativity is another. Sometimes before I write something for a client I’ll spend a few minutes posting a rant on a Boston sports message board or even a personal email….that kind of thing loosens you up a bit. Trying to keep a bit of an interesting edge to what you do makes an impact I think on your formal work. Just don’t copy and paste!

I also sometimes work in a bit of my own writing at the end of a day or week. It’s awesome to see that stuff pile up and it can lead to what I sometimes call “project with soul” – they can inspire our work and in rare occasions really help us open new doors professionally.

Thanks for the food for thought – only the next few weeks I’ll have to do without the egeeks on my walks….I’ll let you know if it spawns a half-decent idea.

Enjoy the break and thanks for all you bring to the SAP peeps…

    – Jon

@LoneRanger – I notice that a lot of your content comes in spurts. This is a sign that deep down, you really do want to be a developer. Come to the dark side…we have cookies.

@David – true true, but aren’t we just so good at it. πŸ™‚

You know that is one of the reasons I didn’t go for the 3G option, I think I’m already too connected…

For me I grab the camera and head outdoors, wandering around looking for a good shot is the source of many of the ideas I’ve had over the last 12 months!

and in regards to Z Day, http://www.eskrimador-supplies.com/Rattan_Sticks.html it’ll sever the brain stem and easier with customs πŸ˜‰
