Interesting to hear your thoughts on running SAP on Amazon Web Services. I have been running the SAP Netweaver 7.01 Developer Edition on AWS and I am finding it really useful for hacking things up while I am travelling and for client demos. Would be great if SAP could start releasing these developer editions as shared AMIs!

Martin English has some useful info for anyone wanting to set this up for the first time http://www.basissap.com/2009/06/install-sap-on-amazon-web-services-1-the-environment/

Cheers for the mention too :)

  3. Really cool stuff, running SAP on Amazon Web Services. Would be great if SAP could start releasing these developer editions as shared AMIs!
I had chance to discuss the same with Tom. The best part is finally running SAP on iPad.
Keep posting more information on this, very interesting and encouraging. ~JK

Thanks for the EG shirt Ed, much appreciated.
It’s a pity I couldn’t convince Thomas to try a meat pie and beer at the Aussie rules football – next time for sure!
I guess we’re even because I never acquired the taste for his Bacon flavoured chocolate either!

    Great podcast, well done.

    Cheers, Tony de Thomasis.

  5. Thanks for the shoutout! Listened to the podcasts while I was on the train to Walldorf :)

The Amazon cloud story was interesting. Would not mind hearing more about how that stuff works in detail.

Entertaining podcast as usual. Regarding use cases of iPad like gadgets, I was recently asked by my client if we can use some sort of photo search for matching up part numbers if the technician in the field couldn’t recognize a specific part. Promising use case of google’s image search but oh well.. iPad doesn’t have a camera though!
I think we need an iPad OS on a rugged tablet device for field service use ..Can’t make to Saphire this year..boo.., waiting to see for some last minute cancellations to sneak in..
