ABAP Freak Show – Aug 5th – ABAP OO Tutorial Part 5

by Thomas Jung on August 5, 2009 at 12:48 pm

In this final entry in the 5 part ABAP OO series, we examine examples of how SAP puts the techniques that we learned in the previous 4 sessions to work within the standard code that they deliver to customers. We start by looking at the CL_BCS classes for sending email. CL_BCS* serves as a perfect example of the use of Persistent Objects and Polymorphism. We also look at the functionality behind the new ABAP Code Completion feature in the ABAP Editor. This block of code uses Persistent Objects, Inheritance/Polymorphism, Exception Classes, and MVC structured Classic Dynpro.

You can also download all the source code from all 5 tutorials. Just be sure to look at the ReadMe.pdf file for important tips on installing the source code.

What exactly were you looking for when you say better MP4 or AVI? The original flash video (which is HD) can be viewed full screen or downloaded from Blip.Tv. Also I provide links to an HD MP4 version and an iPod/iPhone MP4 version of each video.

  4. Hi,

First of all, I just want to thank you for the excellent blog wrt OO. I was hoping to get the 5 part series in downloadable format as some of the areas in South Africa do not have internet connection that readily available. The MP4 part 5 copy in question, is not readable as I cannot make out the screen shots. What is Blip.TV? and is the other parts tothis series in download format?

    Thanks for your time.

Are you using the iPod MP4 or the HD MP4? Generally the HD MP4 should be high enough resolution that the screens are quite readable.
I have downloadable versions in all 5 parts.

Blip.tv is where I actually post the videos for streaming. You can click on the Guide and Details button on any video to lead back to the Blip.Tv site. For this video for instance:

You can download the original FLVs from Blip.tv as well.

  7. Hi Thomas,

This is such a good tutorial… It is obvious you really know what you are talking about. I am going to try to code all my new programs in OO. I have started reading a few books on ABAP OO, but none had these examples and were as clear as you…

    Kind regards,
    Paula
